Helping women, professionals, and perfectionists trade burnout and self-doubt for confidence, balance, and peace of mind.
Hi! I'm Dr. Jamie Long, a licensed clinical psychologist in Fort Lauderdale Florida. You might be someone who looks like you have it all together — successful, capable, and the one others turn to for advice — yet inside, you feel stretched thin, overwhelmed, or disconnected from your own needs. You want to feel calm, confident, and fulfilled, but lately, life has felt like a constant juggling act that leaves little room for you.
The problem is, when you’re used to keeping everything running smoothly, it’s hard to slow down long enough to notice what you need. You may feel guilty for not feeling happier, or frustrated that stress, anxiety, or old patterns keep showing up no matter how hard you try. I believe therapy shouldn’t be a last resort — it can be a space to grow, reset, and learn evidence-based tools that help you feel like yourself again. I understand how hard it can be to prioritize your own well-being, which is why I help my clients create meaningful change that feels both practical and deeply personal.
Together, we’ll take a thoughtful, collaborative approach to your goals:
Clarify – We’ll uncover what’s really contributing to your stress, relationship struggles, or emotional ups and downs.
Strengthen – You’ll learn research-backed strategies for managing anxiety, improving mood, and building resilience.
Thrive – We’ll work toward lasting emotional balance, healthier relationships, and a life that feels more satisfying — not just manageable.
Therapy is one of the best investments you can make in yourself. Whenever you’re ready, let’s start building the life you’ve been too busy helping others create.
Background
Both my Master’s and Doctoral degrees were awarded from Nova Southeastern University – College of Psychology. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology. In addition to offering therapy, I've served as a university professor, career counselor, researcher, writer, and even a professional food critic.
My specialties are in the treatment of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and relationship challenges. I use evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training, and The Gottman Method.
I am an eating disorder specialist and received expert training during my clinical experience in university counseling centers and at The Renfrew Center — a comprehensive residential eating disorders program located in Coconut Creek, Florida. At The Renfrew Center, I began as a post-doctoral resident then was invited to join senior staff as a supervisor and manager. I developed patient programming and trained numerous clinicians and student interns.
Professional Affiliations
I'm a member of the American Psychological Association, the Florida Psychological Association, and the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP). I'm licensed in the state of Florida and can serve clients who are physically located in Florida, either online or in-person.
A note on payment: Dr. Long has chosen not to contract with insurance but is happy to help you seek reimbursement via your out-of-network benefits. Insurance usually reimburses a significant percentage of out-of-pocket fees.
