Specialties at a glance: Eating Disorders, anxiety, depression, and relationships.
Hi! I'm Dr. Jamie Long, a licensed clinical psychologist in Fort Lauderdale Florida. I'm passionate about helping individuals improve mental health and wellness.
It can feel uneasy to reach out to a psychologist especially when, generally speaking, your life might be pretty good. But I'm glad you're here. Reserving time for therapy is an act of self-love and care.
Are you usually the one helping everyone else with life's problems? Do you want to be healthier? Maybe you don't quite have the ever elusive work/life balance down pat, or the relationship of your dreams. Or perhaps your mood is sometimes up and down and stress is more common than not.
If the above looks like you, imagine feeling stronger, happier, and more satisfied in life. That's what my clients experience shortly after starting therapy. Nowadays, there are many strategies to help improve our lives (stuff that's actually been studied by real life scientists!). I'm excited to share these tools with you.
Background
Both my Master’s and Doctoral degrees were awarded from Nova Southeastern University – College of Psychology. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology. In addition to offering therapy, I've served as a university professor, career counselor, researcher, writer, and even a professional food critic.
My specialties are in the treatment of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and relationship challenges. I use evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training, and The Gottman Method.
I am an eating disorder specialist and received expert training during my clinical experience in university counseling centers and at The Renfrew Center — a comprehensive residential eating disorders program located in Coconut Creek, Florida. At The Renfrew Center, I began as a post-doctoral resident then was invited to join senior staff as a supervisor and manager. I developed patient programming and trained numerous clinicians and student interns.
