Mini Sessions - Therapy in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Have you thought about talking to a therapist but don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to the process?
We’ve noticed a growing need for our busiest clients; they wanted support balanced with easy to apply coping skills without a big investment of time or money.
We all go through difficult times in life that can leave our mind spinning.
Anxiety, stress, moodiness... are painful inner experiences that millions of folks struggle with every day. But such challenges don't have to hijack your life.
People from all walks of life seek out therapy to help improve their mental health and there’s a good reason why. Studies show that 80% of people who go to therapy find it helpful.
The problem is, not everyone has the time or financial resources to participate in traditional mental health therapy (i.e., 15-20+ weeks of 50-minute appointments) . This is why our dedicated team of professionals created an additional therapy service.
Introducing Mini Sessions - a targeted, brief, and solution-focused therapy track at The Psychology Group Fort Lauderdale. Mini Sessions are shorter therapy appointments for about half the price of our traditional services.
This is not a therapy app or Artificial Intelligence. Nor is it a Big Tech therapy platform. Our mental health group of talented therapists is your neighborhood therapy practice managed by a real life, Florida-licensed psychologist.
Our practice will continue to offer and recommend traditional therapy services but Mini Sessions could be a great option for many clients. Let’s unpack exactly what it is and what makes it different.
What are “Mini Sessions” and what makes them different?
Mini Sessions are 30-minutes therapy appointments for about half the cost of our regular sessions. They can be held in-person at our office in Fort Lauderdale or online to anyone located in the state of Florida.
The aim of Mini Sessions is to give you support and tools that can be applied immediately. Our program uses proven techniques based on cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, and skill building to target stressors and equip you with the tools to manage it.
Some clients are just looking for someone to talk to whereas others want to work on a particular problem. Mini Sessions are a great fit for clients who want to get support fast and be able to apply the tools that they learn right away.

Are Mini Sessions a good fit for everyone?
Mini Sessions are not a good option for every client. Due to its quick appointment duration and time-limited course, Mini Sessions are not appropriate for most couples, families or individuals with complex issues because these circumstances require longer appointment times and/or a higher level of care.
For example, a couple recovering from an affair would likely find a 30-minute appointment so lighting fast that it’s not very helpful. Further, a client with severe PTSD symptoms would be best served by an evidence-based treatment for trauma. Similarly, a client wanting to recover from an eating disorder would be best served by a traditional eating disorder treatment plan.
Mini Sessions are intended for problems that can be addressed with brief interventions.

Frequently asked questions about Mini Sessions
- What Can I Expect in Mini Sessions?
First, you will receive an abbreviated packet of intake paperwork and questionnaires. Your TPG therapist will review it prior to your appointment to better understand what brought you into therapy and what you hope to accomplish.
Note: some clients are just looking for someone to talk to or to understand themselves better; whereas others want to learn specific skills. Many clients want it all! Above all, therapy with a TPG therapist will include support and empathy.
Because everyone is unique, we will tailor your Mini Session(s) in ways that fit your needs and goals. No matter what you’d like to get out of your session, your clinician will walk you through the process and share their ideas of what might be helpful.
- Can I come to more than one Mini Session?
Yes! Many of our clients find it helpful to come to several Mini Sessions. Your therapist will make suggestions as to how many appointments you can expect in order to make progress on your goals.
These appointments can be made several times over the course of a week, or spread out over the course of a year. You’re only obligated to pay for the Mini Sessions you receive (or don’t cancel with 24 hours notice).
- Can I do longer therapy appointments and Mini Sessions?
Yes! Many of our clients schedule a mini session as a way to supplement their weekly, 50-minute therapy appointments. Even if you start off as a Mini Session client, you can transition to our regular therapy program. Simply ask your therapist about your options.
