Frequently Asked Questions
In short, no, the clinicians of The Psychology Group do not accept insurance.
However, if your plan has out-of-network benefits, you can see any licensed clinician of your choosing and the plan will reimburse you a percentage after the deductible is met. In most cases, insurance reimburses around 60-90% assuming you have a psychiatric condition meeting medical necessity criteria for treatment (which will be determined during the first appointment). At the time of the therapy appointment, you are financially responsible for the service fee then we provide you with an invoice to submit to the insurance company (it’s easy!).
Don't have time to submit your superbill to insurance? Let us introduce you to Better. Better is a HIPAA compliant service that submits superbills to your insurance provider on your behalf. The fee is 10% of whatever money you receive from the insurance company. If you don't receive compensation (e.g., unmet deductible, denial, etc.) they don't collect a payment.
*Note that The Psychology Group has no relationship with Better and does not receive any compensation from the company.
Therapy appointment fees range depending on the amount of time required (e.g., 50-minutes, 75-minutes, 90-minutes) and the clinician.
Fees range from $125-$300.
There are pre-paid packages available which include a significant discount. Contact us for more information.
Call us at (954) 488-2933 or message us below.
We offer complimentary 15-minute therapy orientations and action planning. I this call, we will review any questions or details regarding the services you want to receive.
If it's a good fit, you'll be scheduled for your first therapy appointment. Then you and your therapist will decide how often and for how long to meet.
There is much confusion about what constitutes an emotional support animal and who qualifies for one. Emotional support animals are intended for persons disabled by a psychiatric condition. The animal is in essence “prescribed” by the treating clinician so that the pet may travel
and live with the owner. Although pets are often considered to be helpful to their owners in an emotional capacity, this fact does not automatically qualify the pet as an emotional support animal.
Under federal law, landlords do not have to permit emotional support animals for everyone with a mental illness, only those who are disabled and have a mental illness. In order to qualify, the mental illness must be in some way directly related to the disability.
In order to qualify for ESA certification with us, you must be an existing client and have exhausted all other possible treatments without success.
If you plan to request an ESA certification letter from us, please bring this to our attention as early as possible to avoid any misunderstandings and to better manage expectations.
Your first few psychotherapy sessions will involve an evaluation of goals and needs. Your therapist will ask you what brought you into therapy and what you hope to accomplish.
An initial evaluation typically gathers information about any symptoms, history/background, family/relationships and other relevant details. Whether you are seeking individual, couples, or family therapy, your therapist will be able to offer you some first impressions of what your work will include and a treatment plan to follow at your first session.
Please share your opinions of the proposed treatment plan along with your thoughts of whether you feel comfortable working with your therapist. Therapy involves a commitment of time, money, and energy, so it’s important to carefully and thoughtfully select the best therapist for you.
Yes! Our therapists are highly trained and are experts at what they do. Our priority is to be of service to you and our ratings/testimonials consistently reflect patient satisfaction.
Numerous research findings show that therapy is very effective in reducing psychological distress. In fact, studies show that 80% of people who seek treatment find it helpful.
Licensure laws are intended to protect the public by limiting licensure to those persons qualified to practice psychology as defined by law. The state of Florida permits basically five types of mental health clinicians to become licensed and provide services to the public. Below are some basic descriptions of the various disciplines.
Licensed Psychologist (PhD & PsyD): Psychologists are experts in the areas of human behavior, psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. They employ empirically validated interventions to help patients adaptively change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. A psychologist is a doctoral-level, licensed mental health clinician.
Licensed Psychiatrist: Psychiatrists are commonly confused with psychologists. A psychiatrist attends medical school then branches off into the specialization of psychiatry. Psychiatrists hold a M.D. or D.O. with prescription writing privileges. Psychiatrists have limited training in psychotherapy and psychological assessment.
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT): A LMFT is a therapist with a Master's or Doctoral Degree in family/marital counseling and specializes in serving persons seeking assistance with interpersonal relationships.
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC): A LMHC is a counselor with a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling or a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and has received training in counseling and psychotherapy techniques.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW): A LCSW is a counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work. The social work framework is holistic taking into account not only the individual's psychological makeup, but also societal and environmental factors that can impact mental health.
Non-licensed counselors:
Life Coach: Life coaching is a practice that helps people identify and achieve personal goals. At this time, Life Coaching is not a regulated practice meaning there are no education and training requirements or oversight by any licensure board. A life coach may have a graduate degree in mental health and a certification in life coaching.
