Dr. Gabriela Sadurní Rodríguez
Hi! I am Gabriela Sadurní Rodríguez, a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Florida. I’m a passionate psychologist who is committed to being present with my clients on their journey (i.e. in navigating their presenting issues) and to work collaboratively towards reaching their therapeutic goals.
I understand that reaching out for treatment can be somewhat intimidating or anxiety provoking, and thus, it is my mission to attempt and help clients feel as comfortable as possible while building rapport.
Style-wise, I am flexible with my approach and I tailor treatment according to client’s needs and goals as I firmly believe that “one size does not fit all.” I meet clients where they are in the process of change and implement interventions to help them increase their awareness of what is keeping them “stuck” or causing them suffering. I encourage them to explore their vulnerabilities in a safe space.
As a psychologist I actively strive to help clients become more attuned with their inner experience (e.g. thoughts, emotions) while sustaining a compassionate approach. With my experience in the field I firmly believe that people have an extraordinary capacity to adapt to changes, overcome difficulties, and ultimately, become resilient.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Carlos Albizu University, San Juan Campus, and earned both my Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology in this institution as well. I completed a Post-doctoral Fellowship specializing in the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related disorders at the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System in Manhattan, New York. Furthermore, I earned a Clinical Traumatology Certification at the Psychotraumatology Institute in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to attain a comprehensive understanding regarding how to address trauma and implement adequate trauma-informed interventions.
My specialties are in the treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions/adjustments, and difficulties in interpersonal relationships. I have also worked with grief/loss, and personality, mood, and substance use disorders. I actively use evidence-based treatments/interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavioral Activation (BA), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Skills Training in Affect and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), and Mindfulness-based interventions.
I have provided services in diverse clinical settings such as: Veteran Affairs Hospitals, a Specialized Center for the treatment of traumatic stress, an Oncology Hospital, a Psychiatric Inpatient Hospital, outpatient Community Centers (including one solely focused on LGBTQ+ population), and a public middle school. I have provided psychological testing and assessments for diagnostic clarification (including specific diagnostic assessment of PTSD symptoms using the CAPS-5, PCL-5, among others), as well as cognitive (IQ) and achievement assessments. Additionally, I have training and experience conducting psychotherapy in diverse modalities such as individual, couples, family, and groups.
I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish, and have experience and training in both languages. Please feel comfortable inquiring about receiving services in the language you feel is best for you.
